2004-03-13 4:25 PM Love and Other Predators Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) The Komodo story is finished! And is titled, for now, "Komodo." I don't much like the title, so maybe somebody at Hidden City will have a better suggestion. I thought about calling it "Love and Other Predators," but since there's nothing to connect the story even remotely to Marquez's famous "Of Love and Other Demons" I don't think the title works, more's the pity. The Marquez association is simply too strong, if only in my own mind. The story ended up being about 9,000 words long, with 3,200 of that written today. I'm reasonably pleased with it, though there are a few places where it's very recognizably a first draft, and it will benefit from being workshopped, I think. It's been a pleasant Saturday. In between bouts of writing, I've been eating roast beef and brie sandwiches, listening to music, laying in the hammock reading F&SF, and hanging out with Heather.
