Hey. You should give some money to Strange Horizons. It's their April Fund Drive. This magazine does an amazing thing: it publishes brand new fiction, poetry, and non-fiction every single Monday. (Well, technically I think they might take Xmas week off, but still, pretty impressive.) They pay their authors professional rates, and they're a non-profit donation-driven publication. That means they're funded through the generosity of readers like you. (And if you're not an SH reader, why not? Get you to their website! If you don't like the content one week, there'll be another whole issue along the week after!) Donors also get a shot at winning fabulous prizes. (Heather and I just donated a special two-issue subscription to Flytrap, though it's not on the page yet.) So, go, give.

The Nebula winners were announced. Some good stuff won! Though the only real surprise is Karen Fowler's "What I Didn't See." I guess the extremely vocal bunch of people who detested that story were just a loudmouthed minority, at least within the ranks of SFWA. Nice to know that, as an organization, SFWA is open to well-written stories that are only obliquely SF/F.

The writing group meeting went well. I had fun. Actual critiquing only took about half an hour -- the rest of the time, we just chatted. I also managed to write about 500 words on the train, which completed another installment in my series of linked short-shorts. A good Saturday, writing-wise. Then I came home to my wonderful, fabulous fiancée, and we had a date night. Dinner from Barney's, we watched American Splendor, and we frolicked the night away. Just lovely. She bought me a pitcher plant! Which is odd, since I'd just been envying someone else's pitcher plants earlier in the day. Heather's the best.
