2004-06-02 10:52 AM Rangertalk Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) I just talked to my editor (and what a sweet sentence that is), a first chat to introduce ourselves. She told me the things she likes most about Rangergirl, which was gratifying. She's going to shoot for a Summer 2005 publication, which means I should be getting some editorial feedback within the next couple/few months. I'll let you all know the publication month as soon as I do. We talked about the title, and whether it would need to be changed, but to my surprise there's some possibility it will remain The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl -- apparently some of the people she's talked to about it like that title. (It may still change; there are other voices that will weigh in on the subject.) She really seems to get what I'm trying to do with the book. I'm pleased We also talked a bit about possible cover design, and her ideas are wonderful. She wants something graphical rather than abstract or painterly -- she mentioned the cover of the Chabon-edited Treasury of Thrilling Tales as an example, and that's marvelous, just the sort of joyfully pulpish feel I'd hoped for. We'll see how it turns out. This is my once-fortnightly day off. I don't have a to-do list, really, beyond doing some dishes and running an errand or two. I'm going to read, and work on the new story I started at Wiscon, and have leftover Chinese food for lunch, and generally enjoy myself. Hope y'all have a good day too.
