Just heard from David Hartwell that my story "Life in Stone" is going to be reprinted in The Year's Best Fantasy 5. Yay! I didn't think I'd make it into a Year's Best this year, and hearing other people announce their acceptances to various volumes over the past month reinforced that suspicion, but, once again, it turns out I don't know anything. I'm glad this story is getting wider exposure. And, hey, more money for the wedding!

Jenn is visiting this weekend! She's staying over with us Saturday night, and I've got a bottle of champagne chilling for the occasion. Yay, Jenn!

I'm reading lots lately, what with the Nebula short fiction jury, and I'm also going to start reviewing for A Certain Magazine again because 1) they need a horror reviewer and 2) I need the money. So I'm reading The Overnight by Ramsey Campbell (good atmospheric Ramsey stuff) and Mad Dog Summer by Joe Lansdale (stories, many of which I've not read before, and I love me some Lansdale). Next up, the newest Night Visions 11 (Lucius Shepard, Kim Newman, and Tim Lebbon; pretty much a dream-lineup for my tastes) and that Damned anthology (which I haven't even cracked yet, so I don't know what to expect). I feel utterly immersed in fiction. It's not a bad feeling.

This weekend I'm going to try to write some porn because, again, I need some money, and I have an idea, and a market. It's basically an ordinary Tim Pratt story about, you know, the gap between perception and reality and the dangers of fantasy, except it will also have quite a bit of explicit sex.

And now, an iTunes meme!
