Four years ago yesterday I first laid eyes on Heather Shaw, and from there it was a short trip to falling totally in love with her. The past four years have been the best time of my admittedly quite wonderful life. And, oddly, everyone seems to wear green and get drunk on the anniversary of the day we met -- I can only assume they do so as a celebration of our love.

We finished watching Wonderfalls. I wish it hadn't been canceled, but they did a fairly good job of making it a coherent, satisfying whole -- it doesn't have that utterly truncated chopped-off-at-the-knees feeling that a lot of canceled series wind up with.

Next we'll watch season 3 of The Shield. I love good TV. Actually, I love any good narrative, and series-based television at its best can do some really wonderful, complex stories.

This weekend I'm going to read a zillion short stories. I've kept up with the online magazines pretty well, but I need to read a bunch of the print stuff from the past few months, before it becomes impossible to catch up. I know I can't read every piece of short fiction published in the genre -- not if I want to do any writing of my own this year! -- but I'm going to do as much as possible. Looks like it's going to rain most of the weekend anyway, so it's a good time for intensive reading.

I typed, revised, and mailed off my mini-epic, "Cup and Table." Here's hoping the editors like it as much as I do. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

I sold another Bestiary poem, called "Tlaltecuhtli," to Strange Horizons. Don't know when it will come out; probably within the next couple of months.

And that's it. Have a good weekend, y'all.
