Happy Sunday, y'all.

Tales of the Chinese Zodiac is off to the printer, and I think it'll look superdamnfine. We went out for sushi to celebrate finishing (paid for by a surprise writing check -- those are nice).

Yesterday we labored long on cleaning the house. Heather scrubbed the bathroom from top to bottom, and I worked on the kitchen, and the living room, and threw out heaps of recycling (including about a hundred issues of The New Yorker from a couple of years ago). We also shampooed our cat Zanzibar, who's had a bad case of dandruff lately. He didn't enjoy the process, but he seems to have forgiven us. In the evening we went out and bought some cold sodas, came home, and threw open all the windows in the house. Spring is definitely here, and on the top floor, it gets hot. It was a beautiful night.

There's still some work to be done around the house today, but it's the housework equivalent of edging -- a little filing, hauling some more stuff out to the trash, sorting piles, etc. We'll probably go take a walk in the park today since it's so beautiful out, and we should hit the grocery store, since we're down to a couple of mangoes and some carrots and capers and maple syrup, and that does not a meal make.

Writing-work-wise, I'm still feeling more like an editor/publisher than a fiction writer, so I shifted gears over to Flytrap 5. We got the last couple of pieces we were waiting on (a bit of non-fiction and an ad), so layout is basically done. This week we'll proofread, finish writing up our reviews and Dead Beginnings and automatic writing, and probably take it to be printed next weekend. Exciting! I love this stuff, I really do. We'll have a few photos from Hawai'i in this issue. And now, for your delectation, here's a sneak peek at the cover:
