I haven't even started contemplating thinking about beginning to initialize the process of making a packing list for my trip -- let alone actually packing. Thursday, Thursday. Thursday is my wholly-unscheduled evening, which means it's the night I'll do laundry, pack, etc., since I won't have time to do any of that on Friday. My plane doesn't leave until 10 p.m. Friday, but I have to get to the airport before that, and I'm flying out of SFO so I'll be taking the train. I'll get like an hour and a half at home after work before I leave for the airport. But it's okay. Everything will work out. No need to panic here. Last night was fun. I went to pick up Heather around 4:30, and we came back up to my boss's house for a party. Gary K. Wolfe is in town, and my boss threw a small get-together for him. Good conversation, good food, lots of champagne, cool SF people in attendence like [insert myriad namedrops here], etc. Finally got to meet my editor Jason from Night Shade Books in person, which was comforting -- I like being able to interact a bit personally with people I'm doing book-related stuff with. We hung out until around 9 p.m., went home, and basically collapsed on the couch. Ah, the sweet sleepy-making power of booze. Sad news today is that Cody's Bookstore on Telegraph Ave. is closing in July. Man, I love that bookstore, and I've been to some great events there. I mean, they've got two other locations, but the one on Telegraph was my favorite, and there were many times I did the multi-bookstore pilgrimage of Cody's, Moe's, Shakespeare. Ah, well. A reminder, Heather and I are taking part in a rapid-fire reading tonight at 7 p.m. at Valencia Street Books. Details are here. I'm reading three poems -- "Incident", "My Night with Aphrodite", and "Diminishing". Should be fun! Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
