2007-03-14 1:59 PM Increasingly Epic Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) Happy Pi Day! Are you impressed that I managed to post this entry at exactly 1:59? (Well, don't be. I just set the timestamp manually. I was close though.) I'm not sure if I'll manage to eat pie today though. Maybe I'll save that for Pi Approximation Day this summer. Anyway, everything else in this entry was written earlier, so get in your wayback machine. ***
I sold a story -- my time travel story, "Morris and the Machine", to Triangulations, a small-press anthology I got invited to a while back. Their theme is "The End of Time," and I didn't think I'd have anything to fit the theme, but hey, "Morris" has a time machine, and endings of various sorts, sooo.... it's a stretch, I know. The editor admitted it was a stretch. But he's taking the story anyway! So I'm happy. ***
It's my day off. I got my freelance work done ahead of time (boo yeah), which means this morning is all about sitting around with coffee and poking around on the internet. I was going to take a nice long walk today, and I might still, if it warms up -- our summery streak seems to be breaking this morning, as it's quite cool and a bit overcast outside. Might be better this afternoon though. ***
Have I mentioned, lately, that life is good? Life is good. Not uniformly good, but the good stuff is very very good, and the bad stuff? Eh. We can deal. ***
We went across the street yesterday and looked at a vacant apartment. We weren't total lookie-loos, because we have been grumbling for a while that our one-bedroom apartment is a bit small for us, and this place is literally behind our current apartment, which would make moving a snap. But it's a fair bit more expensive -- very much at the outer edge of financial plausibility, and who likes to live on that kind of edge? Plus, we get free laundry where we live now, which is hugely convenient. If we had to start going to laundromats again, I feel the resulting existential despair would crush us. Plus, our backyard has that awesome barbecue. Basically we looked at the vacant place, noted it was bigger and had lots of light, talked about it, and came away with a new appreciation for how much we like our current apartment! So we're staying put for the time being. If and when we have a kid, we'll have to move, once they get old enough to need their own space, but that's a problem for the unspecified future. ***
The goal for today: finish the everloving epic fantasy infidelity story already. Seriously. This is getting ridiculous. It's been growing at a rate of about 100 words a week or something... I should also write some book reviews, and do laundry, and some housework, etc. Exciting! ***
It's odd when the internet radio station I'm listening to begins to essentially mimic one of my iTunes playlists... ***
I finished my epic fantasy infidelity story. Wrote about 5,000 words today, and it's around 9,000 total. I'm calling it "Over There." Which means I've done enough work for today. Time to post this and take a walk! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
