I finished my revisions of Poison Sleep yesterday afternoon and sent them off to my editor, who declared me very speedy. Also got a nice big surprise check. I knew my story "Dream Engine" was being reprinted in the forthcoming Intergalactic Medicine Show anthology, but I was expecting the usual pittance payment that reprints tend to get -- instead, they're paying me more for the reprint than they paid for the story in the first place! Which means we can afford to buy Heather a swiveling gliding rocking chair to aid her future baby-snuggling. Yay!

Heather's going out with a friend for dinner tonight, which means I'll be home alone, woe, alas, alackaday. Also, I'm not working on anything at the moment, which means I'll have to entertain myself instead of just doing more work, which is my usual approach when I have a few empty hours during the productive part of my day. Maybe I'll just read. I'm reading Patrick Rothfuss's The Name of the Wind. I'm only about 150 pages into it (and it's a big fat fantasy, so that's not much), but so far it's quite enjoyable. His blog is amusing too.
