Nitrous oxide is wondrous stuff, and once I was home I started promptly with the Vicodin and ice packs, and the pain was never much of an issue. Not being able to eat chewy or crunchy foods is a bummer, though. I spent the afternoon lounging and watching old episodes of Angel on DVD, mostly. Heather came home and brought me ice cream. All was well. Waking up this morning was hellish, though; the Vicodin hangover was brutal. Felt like I'd been doing shots all night -- extreme dehydration coupled with the feeling that if I put anything into my body, even water, I would puke it right up again. Plus a nasty headache. So I forced some water down, Heather made me some tea, and then I went back to bed after she left for work. A few hours later I woke feeling much more human, and I've been avoiding the Vicodin today. (I have to go to work tomorrow, so it's important I not feel like that again when I wake up in the morning!) So far, no particular pain, no visible swelling, etc. Seems to have gone smoothly.
