Hey, Joe

The weekend was fairly pleasant, very low-key. We went out to eat a few times, and checked out the newly-opened Trader Joe's down by Lakeshore. As we'd expected, the parking situation is horrible over there now, but once Heather's not nine months pregnant and easily exhausted we'll probably walk to the place instead of driving, so it doesn't much matter. We bought lots of food that'll be easy to prepare in a sleep-deprived state, and some wine in anticipation of Heather being able to drink again. Whoo!

We had a doctor's appointment on Monday, and Heather's blood pressure was high, so we spent the next several hours wandering around the hospital for blood tests and a non-stress test. While we sat in NICU, Heather strapped to fetal heart monitors and getting her blood pressure checked every few minutes, I read her Elizabeth Hand's "The Saffron Gatherers." Turns out everything is fine. Her blood pressure readings went down and her blood tests came back clean. She has to check her BP every morning at home now and call if it's high. Otherwise, we're still just waiting for baby...

Our new chair came yesterday evening, so that was cool. We've been wanting a new chair for the living room for a while, and since Heather's going to be home nursing for months, we decided on a nice glider/rocker. It's very comfy.

I've been writing a little, reading a little, etc. It's hard to pay attention to any projects, because there's a baby on the way, and I tend to get distracted / nervous / anxious / impatient. Baby on the brain. We're eager to meet the little guy.
