2008-01-01 10:16 AM The River Boy Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) My story "The River Boy" is online at Clarkesworld! Nice start to the new year. Speaking of our own River boy, drumroll please, he slept seven hours again last night, and even the hooting and fireworks and such in the neighborhood at midnight failed to wake him. I can't remember when I've been this rested. (Well. Pretty much any time pre-baby, I guess.) I know I did a 2007 stats post already, but now that the year's officially over, I can look at my spreadsheet and note that I produced a total of 268,000 for the year. (Not counting e-mail, blog posts, all the writing I do for work, etc.; just fiction and freelance non-fiction.) About 85,000 words of that is Dead Reign; 24,000 of it is the novel formerly known as Grift Sense; roughly 100,000 of it is porn reviews and my weekly column. (That averages 2K a week, every week of the year.) The remaining 59K or so is short stories, new scenes for revisions to Poison Sleep, scenes I wrote for Dead Reign that got sliced out unceremoniously in editing, etc. I'm not breaking any productivity records, but I've met all my deadlines (even self-imposed ones), and I'm happy with my output. I only read 56 books last year, which is kind of a bummer. I read 85 last year! Had a couple of months where I hardly read anything, for various reasons. Hope to do better this year.
