Our first issue premiered in May 2003, and we published twice yearly, except one year when we only managed to produce one. Our secret plan was to get ten issues done, and then re-assess. So issue 10 is done, and we re-assessed, and decided to stop, because we could no longer give the 'zine the attention it deserves, and we didn't want to do a half-assed job. It went from being a pleasure to a source of stress, and we were worrying more than we were having fun, so we decided to pull the plug. Our goal was to publish an old-school photocopied 'zine with clean, elegant design, and an all-embracing approach to genre. While we tended to publish a lot of SF and fantasy, because Heather and I like that stuff, we were open to other things, and published some mainstream work, some straight-up surrealism, and some simply indefinable things. The experience was magical. We published some of my favorite writers in the world. We got indispensable advice from the likes of Gavin Grant of LCRW and John Klima of Electric Velocipede, and help from various Friends of Flytrap, especially Deborah Layne of Wheatland Press, who sold copies for us at just about every convention she attended. We made some great friends. We felt like we were part of a community. Thanks to all of you who helped. We'll be mailing off issues to subscribers (and updating the website so non-subscribers can order copies of #10 too!) in the next couple of days. We'll miss you all. In the meantime, you can order old issues here. And if you really want to buy a copy of #10 now, just paypal $6 to timpratt at gmail dot net. ($8 if you aren't in the USA.)
