It was a long day at the hospital, but his eyes look great, one of his optic nerves even looked better than last time, and there was no surgery necessary. Yay! (It was Heather's birthday, and spending the day at the hospital was hardly festive, but at least she got good news.) One of his corneas looked a bit enlarged, so he needs another appointment in June, but overall, everything is awesome. We left the hospital late enough to get stuck in rush hour traffic, alas, but when we got home, I had more good news, this time from my agent, about a foreign sale for a couple of my books -- my first overseas book sale, actually (unless you count the Dutch book version of "The Witch's Bicycle"). I'll put up details when things are finalized, but basically, we can afford to go to Wiscon and World Fantasy now. Hurray! Right now, it's my day off, my freelancing is all done, and I'm eating leftover gumbo and the last of the cornbread. Mmm. The baby will wake up from his nap in the next half hour, probably, and it's bright and sunny outside (if still on the cold side), so we'll go for a walk and hit the park this afternoon. Should be a nice day. Now linky parts: The fourth Marla novel, Spell Games -- which is coming out in late February instead of late March, now -- has a great review in Publishers Weekly (scroll down a ways). Want to win a copy? In fact, want to win a complete set of the Marla novels? Fantasy Book Critic is running a contest until February 24. Go enter!
