I've been kind of hoping (foolishly) that if people wrote themselves more often they would start demanding more from those who write professionally (as I hope to one day) and popular literature (and pop culture, too considering how many movies and TV shows are made from books these days) would be richer for it. It would make my (desired) job harder, but I really hate those days when I pick a couple of random books out of the library and think I could get write something comparable without going into complete debt getting a Master's from Sarah Lawrence. Good thing I'm not one to take the easy way out.
