I stumbled upon this old Sesame Street segment on a dance blog the other day and it seemed instantly familiar (I remembered the second part, with the lunches, before the video advanced that far). I've never had a particularly good explanation for why I have been so fascinated with ballet all of my life -- if it had been up to my family I probably would have played softball -- but it definitely started when I was very young and Sesame Street was one of the few shows I was allowed to watch at that age. So until better evidence comes along, I'm choosing to believe it was Suzanne Farrell's Sesame Street segments (there are others) that initiated my lifelong obsession.
