Not much I'm going to report on tonight. Very tired and heading off to bed shockingly early. I just returned from NY and a weekend visit with Pretty Maggie. (Last minute change of plans had me going down there instead of her coming up,) We had a nice time and among other things visited a carnival where I displayed my virtuoso talents w/ water pistols, BBs, and pop guns--and my lack of ability at whack-a-mole and skeeball. (Oh, and I got the 2-disk Clash CD I'd been looking for. Great Ghu it's been _years_ since I've last heard "Capital Radio One"!)

I just finished reading all my backlogged e-mail and took a look at my current writing and freelance projects and got some prep work so I can get back to work come the morrow's eve.

I finished Piers Anthony's BIO OF AN OGRE on the bus this weekend. In many way's it's heartening to see an author who made it big despite some bouts of bad luck and bad situations. I can't say that his fiction is anything I do backflips for--even he calls a lot of writing as "lite" fantasy, but he sells and his success has put him into situations where he can bring some real issues to the table. As for the biography itself--well, maybe some of Anthony's problems were brought about by himself and I had to remind myself--especially when reading about his problems with SFWA--that I'm only seeing _his_ side to the story--although he makes a pretty strong case.

Other bus-ride reading material included some fanzines and some issues of AMAZING from the 50s. Ah--simpler times. Most of those stories would never sell today, but they're still fun reads.

Today's Link o' the Day brings you to the fabulous archive of fan photos from SF conventions around the world. The Nebulas ended this weekend (as well as several other conventions) so I expect to see a number of new galleries posted here.

All right--time to sign off. Going to make a phone call, then head straight to bed. A long week awaits me at the ole dayjob.

Cheers!

--John
