Music: B-52s and some Joe Jackson swing Link o' the Day: Earl Kemp's eI And welcome to Wednesday night. No West Wing tonight? *sob!* Well the Bulletin is all finished and being burned to a fresh CD as I write this. Tomorrow I deliver it to the printers, look at the bluelines a few days later, then grab some printed copies a few days after that! I need to get the mailing list muscled into shape in the meantime. (As always, I'd appreciate it if any Bulletin readers reading this could let me know when they receive their copy. In addition, I've updated the overall look of the magazine and wouldn't mind some feedback.) * * * A very good night thus far. Pretty Maggie and I went out for a belated Fathers Day dinner with my dad and his ladyfriend. 'Twas a good time and good food. My dad is an excellent writer and really should try to write more often and work on selling more of his stuff. He knows he can do it. I know he can do it. Lots of people know. He wants to. (Hey dad--do it! --your bully of a son) * * * Nemo is settling in nicely. He seems less skittish tonight and is getting used to the chaos that is this Apartment of Swirling Madness. He still explores in places he shouldn't dare tread, but I suppose that's part of the reason why he struck me when I first met him--his intrepid nature. * * * Still fighting this headcold, but am winning hands down. I missed my afternoon nap and will likely be passing out early after doing a quick BearManor Media job. Some more writing notes happening, but very little in the way of actual writing. I'm trying to get "Tecumseh" ready for LEVIATHAN and the deadline looms ever closer. Plus I'm expecting some edits for an article to come in soon, and need to prep another. Work continues as it always does and I'm very pleased with that. * * * Today's link goes to a site I've mentioned before.. a fanzine in html format. This is the latest issue of Earl Kemp's eI. Earl talks much about his experiences in with censorship, jail, the Nixon administration through publishing experiences in the 70s. There's too much to mention here, but if you ever wondered how the porn novel industry worked back then and what they were up against, check it out. Warning, folks who are bothered by serious discussions about the paper-pornography industry should give this page a past. Likewise if you're unduly squeamish about homosexuality. If you can get past the above, Earl also talks about other aspects of the paperback publishing industry (non-porn) and other fannish topics. Enjoy!
