Music: Billy Bragg and Utopia TV/Movie: Futurama DVD Link o' the Day: The Secret diaries of Writers and Editors Welcome to Tuesday night! Now that we're not getting day after day of constant rain here in New England, we're getting day after day of beating sun. Ah well. If you don't like the weather, wait a minute. Getting some work done tonight. A bit extra hopefully to make up for not getting as much done yesterday. Pretty Maggie and I went out for dinner and to socialize. We had a pretty good time and are likely to make it a weekly event. In writing news, I picked up rejection slips from Weird Tales and SciFiction yesterday and today, but have already sent those stories out to whole new markets. Yesterday I mailed out two other stories and sent off a query to Cicada asking them (politely) why the hell I haven't heard anything from them in six months when they're supposed response time is like two months. Realms of Fantasy hasn't sent me their rejection slip yet. Do I dare suspect that my li'l ole story that's been so hard to place has made it past their first-round slush and is now on its way to Sheila McCarthy's desk? Well, fingers are crossed, but not giving my hopes up. * * * Pretty Maggie finished her Harry Potter book late last night. I tried to find out who all was killed in this one, but it was something like 2am and I was in no position to remember even if she did tell me (which she didn't). Serves me right tho. I should just read the dang things. Nemo had his trip to the vet today where he charmed the socks off everyone (which beats his usual practice of clawing the socks off everyone). It looks like he's over the worst of the kitty-cold he had when we picked him up from the shelter and is in otherwise fine health. * * * I don't think my "Tecumseh" story is going to make the deadline for Leviathan. I'll give it a shot, but I'm still having a major plot problem. The rest of the story is too good to throw away, so instead of trying to hammer this story into something it may not fit, I might be more successful in turning into the story it should be and then submit it to a different market. We'll see. I'm stubborn about some things. * * * Today's link goes to The Secret diaries of Writers and Editors, a very biting sort of site by Beth Bernobich and others who have created the fictional diaries of The Clueless Newbie, The Frustrated Writer, and The Secret Editor. Very amusing stuff and worth some time to go through. How much of yourself do you see in various places? Cheers! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
