Another hot and steamy day, but there are signs of a thunderstorm on the making.

Busy day. Work was a bit of a bear. I love three day weekends and would never dream of turning my nose up at one--but jeez. I'm always so wiped afterward. I've been productive though and have installed a nice window fan to keep the bedroom cooler and have Pretty Maggie's computer set up in a corner of the living room. As I write this, I'm downloading materials for the Joel Raap book and looking over some CDs that arrived in the mail for other freelance projects.

I received a rejection from Alchemy today which doesn't surprise me overmuch. Humorous stories are a tough sell, but I sent out new submissions today to SF Rising, Brutarian, and Argosy. Tomorrow I begin editing the juvie that had been lost by Cicada (I figure it doesn't hurt to give it another read-through before sending it out).

Man, they're dropping like flies. Buddy Ebsen recently died. As did jazz flutist Herbie Mann (I love "Perdido"). That's one of the things that truly sucks as you get older. All the great performers you grew up on die.

Bah!
