Had me on my back for a couple of days and I missed a day of work, but I'm bouncing back slowly but surely. My mind has been about as sharp, lately, as a wedge of room-temperature brie. Everything tastes like mentholated coughdrops except the coughdrops themselves which taste like crap (wild cherry, my ass). Time at the office runs at half-speed while time spent sleeping it off goes by so fast that I'm surprised it's not next week already. But I survive, and Pretty Maggie, bless her soul, has been putting up with my coughing, snuffling, and hallucinations with grace and humor. Work continues. I'm nearly finished with the Paul Frees book which is turning out to be one of the the most interesting books I've done. He's a fascinating character with an interesting and wide-ranging Hollywood career both in acting and in providing voices. Most recognizable are his roles as Boris Badenov and the Burgermeister Meisterburger, but he also did Ludwig von Drake (Wonderful World of Disney), Captain Peachfuzz (Rocky & Bullwinkle), Inspector Fenwick (Dudley Doo Right), Morocco Mole (Secret Squirrel), George and John on the Beatles' cartoon show... and more. Waiting to hear back on some submission, and as soon as my head clears, I'll be sending out more. In other news, anyone heading to Boskone? I'll be there on Saturday, at the very least. I'll be bringing copies of the current SFWA Bulletin w/ the Strange Horizons interview to leave at the freebies table. I'll also bring some copies of Sleight of Hand #2, and hope to run into a few fellow fen. Hokay... that's it for now. Got to get my mind focused back on work--such as it is. Today's link goes to The New Bedford Whaling Museum webpage. If you didn't already know, part of my fascination with tall ships involves the history of whaling in New England. For the rest of this week I'm going to feature links on that topic. Cheers! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
