Music: Punkzilla TV/Movie: Repo Man Link o' the Day: Are You Man Enough? I promised a long time ago that I wouldn't use this webjournal as a forum for political rantings. Anyone who knows me knows that I firmly believe that George W. Bush should not only be ousted from office, but that he should be put on trial for crimes against the American people and humanity in general. I never thought I'd ever see a president in my lifetime as bad as Ronald Reagan... and bam! We get Bush. So I'll keep my promise and not go on and on about how I feel that George Bush is ruining this country, that his administration is a discgrace, and that when it comes to lying, he makes Bill Clinton look like a freaking choirboy. Nope.. I won't go on about that at all. I won't even mention how Sam Neil's protrayal as President Damien aka Son of Satan (in The Omen IV) would be preferable. Instead I'll talk about kittens. Furry, soft kittens. As many know, Pretty Maggie and I have a cat named Nemo. He's no longer the small puff of fur that once fit easily in my palm. Now he's a long, energetic cat who has not yet grasped the concept that I am much larger than him and that his attempts to take me down in the middle of the living room like a lion taking a gazelle down in the African veldt is just plain sad to watch. He has a little more luck with Pretty Maggie only because he is more apt to use his claws and teeth on her than on me. Perhaps this is because he knows that if he tries to draw my blood, I have no problem with tossing him to the other side of the room. Pretty Maggie is more gentle than I as her numerous bandages and arm scars indicate. (On the other hand, she's also the only one who can (and will) bathe the cat.) * * * A busy weekend work-wise. I got the Frees book turned in, and got changes back later that same day. I likewise made some edits to the Pulp Western and Joel Rapp books. Kean got delivered to a new printer, and I'm now making plans to layout the second volume to It's That Time Again: The New Stories of Old-Time Radio, Vol. 2. I'm looking forward to this particular project. No pictures. None. (Well, except for the cover, but someone else designed it.) I got a little writing done, but not as much as I'd hoped. I have one story I would like to finish by this coming weekend. We'll see if we can pull it off. * * * Today's link is for the men out there. It's a Denis Leary rant entitled Are You Man Enough? about the erosion of our macho standards. I consider myself pretty testosterone-based, but as I no longer drink--I've taken a big hit in the macho department. I also don't understand automobile engines that well, and I couldn't care less about televised sports. Still, I like to see things blow up, and when I _was_ drinking, it was usually in smoke-choked little bars and (on whiskey nights) often involved someone getting punched. Now if I can just keep Pretty Maggie from trying to smear my hands with lotion (my hands have no right being soft and smooth... the more callouses, the better!) Anyway, enjoy!
