Music: Final Fantasy X TV/Movie: Final Fantasy X Link o' the Day: Gamefaqs.com “Bless me Father, for, tra-la, I am a most sinful man...” That’s how I start a story currently entitled “Thrickle’s Night Out” which I had about 75% finished before I realized that I erred in Jay Lake’s deadline for his TEL anthology. A pity, but I should be able to retool it for another market. But that’s not today’s confession. This weekend I went and bought a Playstation 2, a copy of Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy X-2. Oh, it was bound to happen sooner or later. We all knew that. I was waiting for the price to go down (it did) and I was waiting for the game prices to go down (they did) and I was waiting for a time when I had loads of it free (that will never happen). So I have a Playstation 2 along with two of the most visually stunning games ever created for a console, with captivating characters and storylines, with a tradition of excellent gameplay going back nearly twenty years, and a reputation for sucking up time in front of a TV screen that hasn’t been matched since MTV’s first three years on air. I hadn’t intended for this to happen. It just did. Pretty Maggie and I were on our way to see Shrek II at the mall when we passed by Electronic Boutique and I, as usual, gawk through the window whil she tries to pull me away--but this time she said, “why don’t you see how much it costs? You know you want to.” She’s a temptress, she is. And I had a moment of weakness. All said and done, I plunked down about $200 on all this. Now then... a movie for two plus snacks would have gone for abround $30 for maybe three hours at best. That’s $10 per hour for only three hours. My two games alone promise around 150 hours of play total. Add to that hours spent retracing some steps, and fill in some hours with Pretty Maggies games, and that’s under a dollar per hour’s worth of entertainment. (And we won’t even go into what happens when I get my hands on other games.) But it will be a hard time to come. I still have freelance work. I still have writing to do. With Pretty Maggie also having her own games to play, that means I won’t be on it _all_ the time, but still, hehe. I hope the novelty wears off soon. But not too soon, I trust. * * * Today’s link is for gamerz. I give you, Gamefaqs.com. Everything you ever wanted to know about all the games there are. Enjoy!
