TV/Movie: TV Land's recent 48-hour "Night Court" marathon
Link o' the Day: V for Vendetta Shrine

As I mentioned in the comments from the previous day--yes, I did break down and go get some fishing gear.

Weak, I tell you. Weak.

I got a rod and reel, a tackle box, various tackle items (lures, hooks, weights, etc.), a net, and a K.I.S.S. guide to fishing. Some royalties came in on a book chapter I wrote two years ago, which ended up being equal or a little over what I spent on my fishing extravaganza. How's that for luck?

So Saturday and Sunday morning found me getting up at 5 in the morning and heading to Corliss Landing on the Providence River just before the hurricane barriers. Didn't cvatch a blessed thing--which was good as I wouldn't have known what to do if'n I had. Granted, I wasn't baiting the hooks or anything, but apparently some of the lures I was using are considered alluring by some species of fish. (Not the ones at that spot, however.)

But I didn't want to catch anything. I just practiced casting and reeling, trying out the feel of different end-tackle rigs. Practicing some of the retrievals I read about. And generally relaxing and enjoying myself. I'm already looking forward to next weekend, and may even try to catch something. I've been scouring websites, looking for some other fishing spots--both salt and fresh. We'll see what happens.

Tonight is the big push for the SFWA Bulletin. Get it off to press on the morrow. And more work on the old-time radio project. Keep busy. And keep cool. The past week was one long sauna with a weekend that was absolutely brutal as far as heat and humidity went. It's hard to feel motivated when the sweat runs off you by buckets. Saturday Pretty Magie and I visted two malls and two bookstores just in an effort to stay cool during the day. The main reason I looked forward to coming to work on Monday was the air conditioning. (Yes, we have air conditioning at home, but only in the bedroom.

Back to work. Today's link goes to the V for Vendetta Shrine, a fansite for the infamous Alan Moore graphic series (as opposed to the upcoming Warner Bros. movie). It's worth checking out if you've been at all intrigued by any trailers for the movie. I'm very excited by the movie as it already looks like it's going to be truer to the source material than say... the more recent attempt to bring Constantine to the screen. And it's a very timely arrival for a movie such as this.

Be intrigued. And remember, remember the fifth of November.

Cheers!
