Music: Vince Gill and the Del McCoury Band TV/Movie: Henry Rollins - Up For It Link o' the Day: Faans! webcomic Well this week hasn't gotten off to a great start, alas. The old dayjob is being a real pain and a half today, so this is going to be a shortish entry. Also, today I've been having to deal with the unpleasant chore of contacting folks to inform them of the passing of our family's oldest friend. He was my dad's best friend in high school, the godfather to me and my two brothers, an anuual holiday guest, and just an all round great guy. His sudden passing came as a great shock and surprise. We were most worried about how to tell my dad, so I had arranged for him to be with a friend when I would call him with the news. it turned out all that planning was unnecessary as yet another person (who wasn't even on my radar) called him late last night. There will likely be a service of some sort either in Boston or Newport. I'll find out more as the week progresses. I think I'm done w/ the phone calls for now. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- So question for all you folks out there... and I'm going to follow this up in a later post... How many people out there listen to the commentary tracks on their DVDs? -=-=-=-=-=--=-=- Today's link goes to an old favorite that has seen something of a resurrection. That site is none other than the Faans! webcomic. I know this has been the link-of-the-day in posts from some years gone past, but it deserves mention again. "Book Five" ended in 2005 and it seemed that there would be no more stories from T Campbell's Faans cycle. It has since taken up a Book 6 and is updating two or three times per week. What's particularly neat is that Jason Waltrip is on as artist--easily the best artist for that series. If you've never read Faans! the entire archive appears to be online. I highly recommend it--especially to those who consider themselves to be fans of anything. Cheers! --John Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
