Good lord, I cannot wait for this f*cking week to end.

Sorry. It's just been a crappy week at work. Add to this my dad having some issues to deal with the past week, and other things going on--I just want to bury my cellphone and go into hiding for a week. Unfortunately I don't get paid vacation time, and Pretty Maggie doesn't have any time accrued at the moment either. So it's going to be the Electrified Hamster Wheel for a bit longer.

Okay, griping done. Got that out of my system for a bit. On to other stuff. In fact, I'm going to name three things right now that make me feel good.

Number 1. Pretty Maggie. She makes me feel very very nice. Okay, this list is way easy. That's a good sign.

Number 2. Music. I did get a chance to escape the rigamarole (sp?) for one evening this week. Tuesday I went down to Patrick's Pub armed with banjo and bodhran and had a very good night playing. I've been spending a lot of time with the five-string banjo lately, getting psyched up for the banjo camp thing next month, but I've been neglecting the Irish tenor banjo. Fortunately I wasn't too rusty, and after the usual warm-up tunes ("Lark In the Morning" and another jig I know by heart, but can't recall the name of right now*). Last week I was playing around with some alternate tunings on the guitar as well, but last week was also very busy so I didn't get very far. Still... music. That's nice.

Number 3. Good movies. Last night, while working, I had on Fay Grim again. I've lost count times how many times I've watched this movie, and I still can't understand why. The story has some real flaws, and the acting is inconsistent, but there's something about it. One reason is probably James Urbaniak's presence. I'm a huge fan of his. But still. I have a couple of movies lined up to watch soon. Sunshine and Renaissance, to name two. Plus I have a bunch of old movies I got for Easter.

Number 4. Writing. I have a bunch of things I'm working on, and am looking forward to finding some time over the next week to get back to those and see what fruit doth be bore (and how much more can I mangle the English language?)

Number 5. The cats, Nemo and Phineas. They can be a real pain in the ass at times, but they do make me feel good.

Number 6. The New Red Green Show. Man, I love this show.

Hey! Guess what? I got to six items on a list originally meant for three, and just (moments ago, after typing entry #6) received a phone call informing me that my dad's gone to the hospital... again.

Crappy week doth continue.

Number 7. Peanut butter cookies. I could go for some right now, so if y'all excuse me, I have a couple stashed in my desk drawer.

No link today. Maybe two tomorrow. We'll ..... no, wait. Link today. A fun one I came across recently. Check out The Comic Critic. This guy writes movie reviews in the form of comics. Nice simple cartooning style, somewhat reminiscent of Larry Gonnick. Make sure to check out the archives.

Cheers!
