Music: NOFX TV/Movie: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus Link o' the Day: RayHarryhausen.com, A fairly productive day--which is always a good thing. I finally got the Hank Moonjean book Bring In the Peacocks off to the printer. I am very close to getting the Baby Peggy book out the door as well. I've just started work on two new book projects, one on the actor Lewis Stadlen, and one on the TV series Hardcastle & McCormick. So far I'm at the photo prep stage. I just finished the last proof of the November issue of the medical journal. Once I get the ads, that will be sent off to the printer as well. All so smooth. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Okay, you writers you. It's pretty common that one thing we like to do is read...and in reading we like to observe how authors work. How they approach, describe, relate, narrate--all that neat stuff. I've been trying to re-read these Lois McMaster Bujold stories with a writer's eye, and it ain't working. I keep getting so swept up in the story that I forget to try and see anything else in the text. That...good people...is genius writing. When it's so good that you can't do anything else but immerse yourself in it to the point where you don't get distracted by anything outside the story. There are a lot of great writers out there. A lot of writers I admire. I think the best way to determine how much I like a certain writer's work, though, is to see how often I re-read their works. That number is a lot smaller. (Perhaps larger than some folks', but still...) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hey, want to see a good documentary? One of the cable networks, I think Starz, has been running something called Sci Fi Boys. It's a lousy, lousy title. It's described as contemporary skiffy folks talking about their influences. What it's actually about are some of the Great Names from the history of science fiction cinema--folks like 4e Ackerman, Ray Harryhausen, Roger Corman, George Pal and others. I had put it on for background noise, but ended up watching most of it instead of working. If you see it on your cable channel, give it a shot. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ah...Friday is coming again. I don't think we have anything planned this weekend, which is nice. I'm not planning on doing a lot of work, but I'd like to do a little work around the house that's fallen behind. Or failing that, go find some nice place to hang out and read, or hang out with friends. Hell, maybe even get to a movie. It's all good. So thus ends another short entry. Today's link goes to RayHarryhausen.com, home to the pioneer of stop-motion film animation. Some good info here, neat pictures, and some good resources for collectors. Check it out. Cheers!
