Link o' the Day: Least I Could Do

Hail and well met!

Ha! Tuesday, haters! For all those who said I'd never make it past Monday, and I say thppppt! And for those of you who gave me your love and support. Who cheered me on and who were there for me every minute of the day, I say...while you were doing all that, thieves broke into your house and stole all your stuff.

Monday was a pretty good day, actually. No worries, and nothing dramatic or anything of the sort occurred. If you were worried, you had me confused with someone else.

[Seriously, this is all an ill-conceived gag. Further proof that I should get more sleep.]

I finished laying out the Lewis Stadlen book and sent that off for proof. I liked how the cover came out, but I think the background might get changed a bit. I like it and the publisher likes it. The author, I think, wanted something simpler.

For now, this is what's going up on the Bearmanor Media website until another design is possibly chosen.

Did a little Xmas shopping yesterday--both on-line and analog. You know what I'm noticing this year? A distinct lack of bargains and coupons. Sure, there are some, but not nearly as many as there usually are. And the crowds aren't nearly what they've been in the past.

Example #1. The Christmas Tree Shoppe. This is a good place for stocking stuffers and inexpensive holiday-themed items. I can often find some neat kitchen stuff here at cheap prices too. Usually the place is crammed with people and shopping carts and getting around is like trying to navigate one of those Rush Hour sliding puzzles. This year...half of what I expected.

Example #2: Kohls. Major retailer. Good place for clothing gifts and holiday gift items. Nothing actually costs what the tag says--you always have to look for the little sign that tells you how to convert the item to the real price, but I guess that's part of the charm. This is another place that's often busy this time of year. Last night? Lonely echoes of lonely footsteps walking through empty, tumbleweed-laden aisles.

On-line seems to be pretty hopping, though. It's been hard to find certain sizes now. Many items are starting to be listed as either Out of Stock or On Order.

So maybe it's not all bad. It'll be interesting, after all the dust settles, to see how this year compares to last.

Today's link is a fun little webcomic: Least I Could Do. Note: This is not a comic for people without a sense of humor. It will offend some people--but they could probably do with some offending. This is very hard to describe. The humor can be little inappropriate at times--but very funny. And very well-executed. It's made by the same folks who bring us Looking For Group so you know the artwork is top-notch. (Well, for recent years. The very first strips are pretty poor in comparison, but hey--learning curve!)

Here are a couple of recent samples that made me laugh aloud--and aren't too inappropriate.

Enjoy!
