All In All... I'm Pretty Pleased

I don't do a lot of April Fools stuff. Honest, I don't. I won't even do a "Rumor has it..." or Mailbag entry today. Just straight stuff. Honest.

Yesterday I received proof copies of TumbleTap Presents: 2009. Overall, I think it looks very nice. The artwork reproduces well. Nice and clear. The type and layout works. I see a few spots for tweaking, and one error in a credit...but otherwise it's a fine looking freshman piece. I'm meeting with Chris Reilly and Steve Ahlquist, creators of Rogue Satellite Comics and Oz Squad respectively to go over the proof and get their input. Then over the weekend I'll have the final final edition sent to the printer and multiple copies ordered for reviewers, promotions, proposals, and so forth, and get the next book ready to go out the door.

The goal is to have both Rogue Satellite Comics and Oz Squad ready for the San Diego ComicCon. Rogue Satellite Comics will include a never-before-seen story that wraps up the series, some new cover art, and a surprise guest intro. Oz Squad will be available in one affordable volume rather than split up into two, and may have a few extras as well.

All in all... I'm pretty pleased.

On other fronts, I'm working on an exciting little book right now. Not to give away too much, it features original illustrations by Jack Davis--whose work is probably most recognized from a appearances in MAD magazine and other Kurtzman productions. More details will be forthcoming as the project develops.

(No, it's not anything to do with Yak Yak, that's just a sample of Davis's work.)

See? No April Fools nonsense. No reason to look behind you, check your pillowcase, or open this can of peanut brittle.

No reason to worry.

Cheers!
