Another year, another Running of the Bullshitters (ROTBS) on the hottest day of the summer. The heat index was in the 100s. What better time to get liquored up and run down First Avenue downtown from bar to bar?

I was double-booked for the event on Saturday so I only did half of the crawl. The first run is the only part where it's still semi-organized. The rest of the night gets pretty sloppy. I ran the half-block from Harvey's to Rosen's yelling and singing "Ole! Ole-Ole-Ole! Ole! Ole!" with 250 other people dressed in variations of the same costume. And holding my boobs since I was running in a tube top and strapless bra.

I was told by an anonymous friend while on the crawl that a mutual anonymous Friend of ours, who is newly engaged, decided her "lifestyle" didn't support events like ROTBS anymore. I'm not sure what was more upsetting: The fact that Friend no longer cares about having an occasional crazy drunken night with her closest girlfriends or that I didn't care that she wasn't with us. It was also sad because she felt she had to make up excuses in order to justify not wanting to go. That made it worse. A simple "I think I'll pass this year. Have fun, though!" would have sufficed. Not a handful of judge-y statements about binge drinking and being wild. Also, I should point out she wasn't invited in the first place. I'm not being mean. She declined the invite last year and I knew she would decline again. There's only so much rejection you can take before you stop bothering to ask. I'd also like to point out that I participated in the event and stayed completely sober. It is possible to go out and get crazy without getting wasted. Not that there's anything wrong with getting wasted occasionally.

A group of us went to the Lodge Bar after Rosen's to join up with our kickball team. It was refreshing to be in a bar that wasn't jam-packed with sweaty people and the AC was still keeping up with the body heat. Ew. KP and I took the dance floor by storm. We even danced on the speakers... not that we needed to since there was NO one else on the dance floor. It's fun to not have a care in the world.

My moral of the day is to not turn into an uninterested, boring friend to your girlfriends once you get engaged. You need girlfriends in your life too! A fiancé is not the end all be all.
