2004-01-17 9:28 PM The plaintive pleas of 12 year olds Mood: Bittersweet Read/Post Comments (0) |
Oh Lord, help me get through this Tuesday. The parents began receiving their letter about my leave today. I've already begun receiving emails from students (yes, they have my work email) with pleas. One, subject line "Please don't leave!", was actually well-written. He understood and respected my desire to spend time with a new baby, but he was distressed at the selection of the replacement teacher - "she eats 7th graders for breakfast" were his exact words. :) He felt I was easy to approach to ask questions and express himself, and he was terrified of having to speak with her one-on-one.
I did get a nice note from a parent of an 8th grader, desiring information on Roman so they could buy us a little congratulatory gift. Which then made me cry. I told Doug, the next few weeks are going to be like I'm pregnant anyway - excitement for Roman and traveling, sadness at leaving a job I truly love, even if only temporarily (I'm still coaching swimming, for goodness sakes!). I think my emotions are going to be all over the board. Better break out the Weight Watchers ice cream. :) Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
