Reading today: Detroit Free Press; "Creative Sketches" by Becky Higgins
Music today: None. TV today: Red Wings playoff game in the background ----------------------------------- We visited our friends Mark and Jen in Flushing, with their three boys; Sam (kindergarten), Zack (2 years younger) and Sarah (1 week older than Roman). Had a cookout, let Sarah and Roman play together. Roman slept in the car all the way there - it was naptime, so that was good. He had a lot to do at their house - watching Sam and Zack go in and out of the house, playing with Sarah, meeting their Golden Retriever, Kirby, up close and personal. We were very busy. He slept on the way home too, from 7:30 to about 8:45. We thought this was okay - planned on an early morning tomorrow, but thought he would go back to sleep when we brought him into the house. Oh, ho ho. No way, Jose! He has been wailing for a half hour now. It's a "I'm standing in the crib screaming" wail, not "I'm tired and will cry myself to sleep" wail. Doug and I go back and forth - he needs to learn to put himself to sleep, we can't keep rocking him; on the other hand, how long do you let a 10 month old cry like this? Ah, a learning curve. But this was practice for the traveling coming up in the next two weekends, where we will be staying at each grandparents' house. And the challenges continue...
