Roman is growing too fast! Slow down! He always has liked to grab our hands and "walk" with us guiding him. Now he's doing it one-handed every once in awhile, and he has also begun to throw himself from one piece of furniture to another; sometimes landing safely, sometimes taking a header into the floor. He also is now standing by himself for a few seconds at a time... one time even stood with no support, took a drink from his sippy cup, and then lowered himself slowly to the ground. No wonder people have a second child and sometimes more - you barely experience the first one before he's on to something else!

Yesterday was a long day. Roman took a nap in the morning before church and so couldn't quite sit still through the service, so we had to put him in the nursery again. This bothers me a little because he's the youngest by far (all other young kids stay in service) so he tends to monopolize one of the caregivers. Then we had lunch to celebrate our nephew's 3rd birthday, and back to their house for cake and presents. We tried to put Roman down for a nap - no way, Jose'. He screamed for a good half-hour, then Doug tried to rock him to sleep. Just wouldn't do it. So after 20 minutes of Doug trying, I went up to try. Took me a good 15 to 20 minutes and finally got him asleep.

By this time, it was too late for us to go home before we had to report to church for the New Member Supper. So we gave instructions to J&K, fixed up a bottle for Roman to have when he woke, and drove to church. I called my Mom from church because it was her birthday, and going on instructions we had understood from the church, told her I could call again when the supper was over - between 8 and 8:30.

The New Member Supper was fun. It is set up like a progressive dinner, where we met three households with established relationships within the church. Also met another couple and a single woman who are also considering becoming members. At each house, then, after we ate we talked about different aspects of our backgrounds, the history of the church, and what membership in the church entails on both sides.

Well, when we got in the car to go home and realized it was 9:30, we got a little frustrated. Poor Roman still at J&K's house, my Mom probably wondering why I hadn't called... we were a little grumpy. We had to drive a half-hour to go and pick Roman up, who we learned had 2 stinky diapers and finally fell asleep on J's lap at 8:45. We really owe them for the babysitting!

We finally got our Bug home and into bed by 10:30pm, and we followed closely after. Our Bug then decided our fun wasn't over yet. He woke up at 4:00am, 4:30 (Doug got him back to sleep), 5:00 (I got him back to sleep by 5:30), and again at 6:00 (Doug finally got up with him). So we're REALLY tired this morning.

But we're going to join the church anyway, we decided, even though they have no concept of time. Still not sure when the New Member announcement is; we just had to tell Pastor Steve if we were interested by filling out an information form & the dates we were available.
