I read an interesting take on the elections. Just wanted to throw a paraphrased version out there for contemplation.

First, this seems to be the first election in many years where the losers are angrily sulking. Usually people can accept a loss and move on, knowing again in four years they will have a chance to win again. Especially after 8 years of a same-party president.

Second, the writer made an observation that there doesn't seem to be that many Kerry-lovers, as there are Bush-haters. The hatred toward Bush seems to be why many vocal Democrats are still licking their wounds... not that their candidate LOST "even though he was so good," but because the man they hate is still in power.

When all is said and done, if your major concern is the economy, know that Alan Greenspan is the one actually running the country. We can all hope Rumsfeld moves on to a different pasture, the military retakes Fallujah, and jobs continue to grow nation-wide (as 300,000+ were created in the last year, per stats released over the weekend). And remember that America was founded on the principles of some highly religious Congregationalist pilgrims, and the country's morals overall will tend to lean right.

And lastly, think of the words of a Middle-Eastern parent who conferenced with me last Monday; when I expressed concern that their daughter was ashamed of her ethnic heritage, mom told me that she had indeed been a target of cruelty after Sept. 11. Then dad spoke up. "But she just has to learn to deal with it - that's why we came here, to have the freedom to say whatever we want. Others can too. That's what makes this country so great. Remember where we came from, we couldn't say anything." Mom grew quiet, and dad's eyes were misty.

Pretty powerful stuff, those freedoms we enjoy.
