We hear this phrase all the time now; at least, oh, 30 times a day. When choo-choos are crashed, when Roman tips something over, when Roman himself falls over (for attention), when he drops something... "oh no, kaboom!" Usually followed with a grin and perhaps a giggle.

Since recovering from the double ear infection fiasco, he has been such a joy to be with. Not like he wasn't before, but we had forgotten. :) He also is starting to cut out the whining, which is a pleasure. He went all day yesterday with no nap, just some quiet time in his crib. He was great the rest of the day - in the past he has fallen apart.

Today we went to the Spree, a free carnival-like event thrown by our city to celebrate its founding. Roman rode the choo-choo train, the carousel (on a bench, not a horse!), and the mini-roller-coaster. He liked the choo-choo the best. No surprise there. He then won a puppy by picking up 3 ducks and putting them in a hole. He was bewildered, but very happy with his "puppy." We had a Hawaiian shaved ice split between the 3 of us, then I rode Alpine Bob's ride. My all time favorite ride that gets me giggling every time. Then we just wandered and took in the sights. Roman didn't want to leave, but he was also hot and exhausted. He kept saying "more play! more play!" When we finally got him out the exit he said "come back soon? come back soon?" I tell you, the kid is brilliant with his language.

He's also trying to figure out what makes US laugh. Doug keeps getting him to say "hello, Daddy" because Roman sounds very British when he does. So Roman now says it over and over just to see Doug start laughing. Then lots of hugging, tickling, and kissing occur.

Last thought: I bought a "harness" for Roman because of his penchant for wandering off in crowds (zoo, mall, etc.). Doug was a little nervous having the only child on a "leash" but we tried it. It was WONDERFUL. Roman didn't complain about it, and it kept him within sight of us at all times. We weren't constantly calling out "Roman, come here! Roman, hold my hand! Roman, come back by Mama! Roman! Roman!" Even had another parent comment that it was a smart idea. We were all much happier people for it, let me tell you!
