last splash at the zoo

Working on: stuff I thought was ready but wasn't, for school

We had a last summer evening fling at the zoo today. They were open until 8pm so I took Roman out there around 4pm. We wandered for a couple hours and then Daddy met us for dinner. We rode the train TWICE as a special treat for Roman. He was so pleasant and wonderful. What a great evening.
It was also the evening of uncommon animals. Usually Roman wants to see the hippo, zebra, lion, and barn animals. Today we saw practically everything else: crocodiles (the whole reptile house, actually), spent almost 15 minutes watching a river otter swim, anteaters, donkey (which talked to us again), gorillas, and arctic fox. Roman told us at home that the crocodile was his favorite animal today.
Tomorrow I officially report for the start of the school year. 8:00am.
