Trash talkers

So we had everyone over today for a "tailgate" party. We bring the flat screen from the bedroom outside, pull out the grill, set up the backyard patio furniture out front and invite everyone over to watch the games.

We had a blast today, earlier, when there were just a few of us and it was our close friends. But then 'everyone else' started showing up, and they're the ones that ended up staying the longest.

First and foremost we are Ravens fans (yes, we won again today!! 2-0 and haven't allowed a touchdown yet!), but many of our friends are not. It's not a problem. We'll even watch their games with them, which we do and which we did. Everyone talks a little trash back and forth, but in a harmless way.

But I refuse to allow people to come to our house, eat our food, drink our beer, dirty up the yard, and act like jerks. When things start getting personal is when it's time to draw the line.

My problem - I think I should have been a guy. Although it's probably a good thing I'm not, because then I might actually try to fight.

I get just as worked up, if not more than most of the guys I know, about sports. I know what I'm talking about too. I'm not some dumb girl that doesn't know what's going on around me. I can tell you players on other teams' rosters, who is hurt and isn't playing, who should be playing, what's wrong with plays and teams, etc. I don't act like I know everything, but I can hold my own.

So when these young guys (5-10 years younger) come over and start talking trash, treating me like I'm just some girl hanging out because it's my house, well, I get PISSED.

I sit and seethe for a while, and on very rare occasions, if something upsets me enough, I will say something. But it takes alot.

Tonight was one of those seething nights. I felt like saying something, but it wasn't worht being called a bitch. (The ones that would say it are definitely not close friends, but are part of the group that we hang out with)

I just don't think it's right to start all kinds of petty arguments with someone when they are extending their hospitality. I guess I was brought up better.

Anyway, I just had to vent for a few minutes. I'm done now. I think I'll go to bed. Thanks for listening!!
