2007-04-17 11:49 AM Goings on Well, the past few weeks have been filled with a whole lotta nothin'. I have no excuses as to why I haven't posted anything, other than sheer laziness.
Well, that's not entirely true. I have had a few things going on. My mom came up from NC for Easter and I got to spend some time with her. That was good. I've been working on more edits on my original MS. That's been good. I've been doing a TON of reading - as if that's a big surprise. That's been good. Actually, that's been a little crazy. I've read 52 books in the past 70 days. I think I'm a little psycho. But who didn't already know that? Heh. I found a new home for my beloved little kitties last Sunday. That was good; that was bad. I've been putting ads in the newspaper for the past few months and got a fair amount of calls, but everyone either wanted one cat or younger cats, which mine are 9 and 10 and I didn't want to split them up. Luckily, one of our local newspapers lets you run a free 3 day ad if you are giving paets away, and you can run it as many times as you need. So, about a week and a half ago, I got a call from a lay about 30 miles away who was interested in both cats and had been looking for older cats - so she wouldn't have to deal with taking care of kittens. So, Sunday morning I braved that freak-ass Noreaster we had and drove out to Salisbury with my babies. I have to admit, the house wasn't much to look at, neither inside nor out, and the lady looks like she's seen better days, but she took one look at the cats and was happy with what she saw and told me they would be well taken care of, so I gave them to her. Who am I to say my cats won't be happy or taken care of correctly just because I don't think this woman meets my expectations? She told me she watches her grandson a couple of days a week, but when she's home alone she would like to have a little animal companionship. After a bunch of tears, some explaining of their likes and dislikes, and her telling me I could come see them any time I wanted, I decided it was time to go. I gave her my card with my cell and work numbers on it, told her to give me a call if she ever has any questions or problems, gave them each a big hug goodbye, and left. It was a rough ride home. Matt had to do some work on a job he had, so he didn't go with me, but wouldn't you know, right after I left he found out he couldn't get in there until the next day. I would have liked him to be with me, but at the same time, it was something I needed to do on my own. We went to lunch a few hours later, and walked around the outlets for a little while. I got a call on my cell from a number I didn't recognize and immediately knew it was cat lady and something was wrong. It was her, sure enough, but she just wanted to let me know I forgot to get her number (I had her daughter's number originally) and she wanted me to have it and to let me know Wes and Gidget seemed to be doing justy fine, with Gidget laying on the sofa with her and Wes wandering around, checking everything out. I think she may have gotten them confused, because it's usually Wes that lays on the sofa with you, but I didn't think about it until later and I was just glad to hear they were doing ok and that she was nice enough to make sure I had her number. It's going to take a while to be ok with it, but I keep telling myself they'll be loved and that's the important thing. Other than that, there hasn't been a whole lot going on. I'm going to New York in a few weeks to go to a trade show and do some buying for the store - mainly shoes and accessories - so that should be fun. Matt is going with me. We always stay at this really cool hotel - the Maritime - right there across the street from the Chelsea Food Market. That's where Emeril is filmed and I think Rachel "I-can't-stand-her-because-she-is-sofreaking-annoying" Rae is also. We might also be going to Baltimore the last weekend in April. It's one of Matt's friend's birthdays and it's also the same weekend as the NFL draft. They open up Ravens stadium and let you watch the draft on the big screens and have a little spring fair with food, stuff to buy, Ravens players and cheerleaders hanging out, so that might be fun. We are also going to look at new cars. I want to get rid of my Explorer and get either a brand new VW Rabbit or a used MINI. I can't wait! So that's my story. I haven't been on JS at all,, so I'm sorry to say I haven't been keeping up with everyone, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I hope everyone has been having a good early spring so far!
