In another life I fancied myself a poet. Maybe it's time to reflect.
four hands clasped together on the dirty diner table i watch as your heart bleeds on the wrinkled paper napkin you say, "she'll have coffee and cream" i laugh that you know me so well. the humor of life is never enough to save us. your brown eyes offer up my reflection, imperfect and strange. you stare into me but your mind is somewhere far away. we laugh at the ditzy waitress who forgot what you ordered. flash bulbs of reality take us away from ourselves. you sigh and tell me seriously, that you couldn't live with a vegetarian. it's so much more than the little things that always stand in our way.
