Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2007-04-30 10:02 AM Coors Field Nugget - two An unassisted triple play yesterday, by the Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki! This event doesn't happen very often, this morning's newspaper lists only 13 since Major League statistics have been maintained, and only five in the last 39 years.
Even a hardened baseball fanatic like I am has to stop and think about how this usually works. Nobody out, runners on two bases, most often first and second. The batter hits a line drive directly at an infield player, usually the second baseman or the shortstop. The infielder catches the ball before it hits the dirt. The batter is out. The runners left their bases at the sound of the bat connecting, so the guy on second is on his way to third, the guy on first is heading for second. The infielder steps on second base, that runner is out. He then tags the player coming from first base, and THAT runner is out! And the crowd goes wild! The only downer in this situation is that I was not working yesterday, I had a ticket to the opera. So like every other baseball fan, I read about it in the newspaper and watched the snippets on SportsCenter on ESPN. But it's a bright spot in what has been a pretty dismal start to the Rockies season! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
