Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2007-10-20 9:17 AM Cooler (maybe even cold) weather on the way The area in the suburbs of Denver where I live was at one time agricultural land, and there is an extensive system of irrigation ditches and reservoirs in the area. They are very nice places for a daily walk, and provide many opportunities to observe a wide variety of wildlife. Because of the water, and the location along the front range of the Rocky Mountains we are in a "flyway" for migrating birds, and also a winter home for several varieties.
We spotted the first harbinger of fall yesterday. At least three swimming along, scooping up goodies from just below the surface of the water with their spoonlike bills. The ladies were there too, of course. Mating, hatching, and fledging the young will take place north of here next spring. When these guys show up, we'll know winter is just around the corner. Turtlenecks, coats, and earmuffs will be the outfit of choice for Coors Field staff next Saturday! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
