Books and other stuff I feel like discussing

By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat.

Closing chapter in my personal detective story

Yesterday when I got home from work, the message light on the answering machine was blinking. The Englewood circulation clerk I spoke to last Saturday called to tell me that she had received the book (Jeffco had sent it to her attention) and she had cleared my record, voided my fines and "lost book" charge, and added thanks for getting the book back.

Those who commented on my entry of the 17th felt that I shouldn't have had to go to the trouble.

Probably they're right, but I have a little sticker on my card that I am a "friend of the library" {It costs me about twenty bucks a year to be considered a "friend"} and I KNOW I am a friend of books.

I got satisfaction from clearing up the confusion, and I think the Englewood librarian was very thoughtful to call me with the final closing chapter.

And after some 50 plus years of reading mysteries, it was a kick to solve one of my own!
