Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2008-10-29 6:46 PM Miscellaneous Updates In my usual reaction to suspense filled baseball games, I am at my desk with the radio on, unable to bear sitting still in the den and watching. Phillies just went ahead 3-2. More than once in the last couple of days I've been wondering just how many ways can be devised for National League fans to have to wait just a l-i-t-t-l-e bit longer for a Series win.
After about eighteen months of increasingly placid coexistence, our two cats Grinch and Lady have devised a couple of games for themselves. Grinch likes to pin Lady to the carpet and groom her within an inch of unconsciousness. She endures his attentions for awhile, then gets up and leaves in clean, but affronted dignity. She prefers to entice him into a boxing game, lying on her back and waving her paws at him. When he comes over to accept her invitation, she grabs his head between her two front paws, rolls her spine forward and pounds him on the chin with her back feet. He cannot resist her come hither meow and her waving paws, and gets punched in the chin every time. We haven't seen our little bunny neighbor for a month at least. I saw it near the shrubs in the front yard early one evening, but since then, nothing. I'm sure the single life is probably not very appealing to a young bunny, and I'm hoping that instead of misadventure, romance led him/her to find another spot to bunk. But we may still see tracks in the snow this winter - I'll keep my eyes out. Update on books read in the next few days. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
