Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2009-06-13 7:57 AM Nine in a row Have the Rockies ever had a streak this long? I'm not sure, I'll have to check the paper, which is still out in the driveway.
I do know that for every one of the wins in the past week and a half, the starting pitcher has been the winning pitcher, and I'm positive the Rox have never done THAT before! Young Ubaldo Jimenez, whom I wrote about in this blog on July 23, 2008, pitched another complete game. He came to bat in the eighth and the crowd realized that he would finish the game. So most everyone stood up at that point and remained standing. When Ken Griffey, Jr, came to pinch hit in the ninth, he got a lot of applause as well, and it was kind of hard to tell who was getting the most cheers. Griffey walked with two out, and then Jimenez got Ichiro to ground out to short, and Griffey was tagged coming from first. End of game! Rockies have now moved into third in the NL West. With the Dodgers holding at least an 8 game lead over the rest of the division, the rest of the season will be a long tough road. I'm content this morning to hold on to a pleasant glow of satisfaction in how the team has turned things around. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
