Woodstock's Blog Books and other stuff I feel like discussing By education and experience - Accountant with a specialty in taxation. Formerly a CPA (license has lapsed). Masters degree in law of taxation from University of Denver. Now retired. Part time work during baseball season as receptionist & switchboard operator for the Colorado Rockies. This gig feeds my soul in ways I have trouble articulating. One daughter, and four grandchildren. I share the house with two cats; a big goof of a cat called Grinch (named as a joke for his easy going "whatever" disposition); and Lady, a shelter adoptee with a regal bearing and sweet little soprano voice. I would be very bereft if it ever becomes necessary to keep house without a cat. |

2010-09-16 10:18 AM Coors Field Nugget Seven - our numbers guy To the consternation of most Rockies fans, the eastern press has a tendency to ignore our team, but here's a nice summary of the current season of one of the most popular members of the Rockies roster.
Most of us call him "Cargo." As of this morning, he's got a batting average of .341, with 32 homers and 106 runs batted in. I have heard some talk about triple crown status, which hasn't been accomplished since the late 1960's. Needless to say, that would be a huge treat for us, and would also be hugely disparaged because he plays half the season in Coors Field and very few commentators are inclined to give our players credit for their accomplishments. This late in the season, it's probably unlikely he would make it to the top of the heap in all three categories. As of this morning, Cargo is second in batting average, 5th in rbi's and 7th in homeruns. However if you look at National League stats only, he's currently first in batting average and rbi's, and third in homeruns. I can't easily come up with comparisons between home and road games. I wouldn't object to the observation that the home achievments are the most fun - those are the ones we get to see in person! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
