2003-08-01 8:24 AM Last Minute Preparations For the Field Trip Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
I was able to get to the Makati office of Enchanted Kingdom yesterday by 9am. I don’t know if they just opened then or if they had been since 8am, but it better to be on the safe side and not wait. Besides, I slept at almost 2am the other night, so I woke up nearly 8am in the lab. It seems that the turnover rate in their office is very high, because the people I approached were again different from the ones I had spoken to just four short months ago. And unlike the last time, they made me wait in the reception area while they printed out the tickets, and then invited me inside to pay, which took longer. Last time they had ushered me to the cashier area while the tickets were still printing, so they had finished counting the money I brought by the time the printing was finished. This time, they gave us the wristbands that signified the students were ride-all-you-want ticket holders. So there is a larger chance of the students forgetting one or the other instead of just having to remember to bring their ticket. I recommended to my co-teachers and to my students, to just let the park personnel assist them in putting on the band, instead of trying to attach it by themselves, as there was also the chance that they might break their band and invalidate their ride-all-you-can status. I was also given their new brochures that reflected their new prices, for regular entrance to the park and for the shuttle service (P100 one way). I also told the students who are planning to take the shuttle the alternative public transportation, which would be at least P40 cheaper, and closer to the school. I set the free day for this field trip to Friday next week, which means that I won’t have any classes on that day. I gave the students the terms of the submission of the activity sheet (Monday and Tuesday with bonuses, with deductions after Wednesday) and the acceptable forms of documentation in lieu of taking attendance in the Park. I also returned their second long exam, whose bonus questions I checked this morning. Finally I also told them about the requirements for the new topic and next group assignments. In my 1250pm class I collected their payments for the field trip, and we had the exercise for tracking the movement of a star using their mock telescopes. I was impressed with these sophomore students because their mounts and bases were made of wood or fiberglass, but then that’s maybe because they took my words very seriously when I said that the sample I showed them received a low grade because of the quality. This afternoon I went back to Enchanted Kingdom’s Makati offices to buy the additional tickets. I told the students that they could claim these tickets at the department tonight until 10pm, or tomorrow until 10am. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
