No Regular Duties

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

The campus was closed last Saturday because of the start of Ramadan, something I did not expect after the October 31 regular classes. Luckily the guard at the gate allowed me to go inside the campus just to get the materials I would then work on and check at home.

Yesterday was the second to the last entrance exam session in campus, and fortunately, both sessions I handled were made up of students from different high schools. Maybe the fact that I already put an extra edge in my voice since the start of the instructions (that left my throat a little rough that I had to go to the water fountain at every opportunity) made the examinees realize I would give no quarter to their attempts to bend the rules.

The proctor was someone from the registrar's office who seemed to either be on her first or second time. I had to remind her about what to do at the start (like getting the examinees to sign the attendance sheet or when to pass the exam booklets) and she also took the initiative of giving the examinees blank scratch papers whenever she saw that theirs was already full of writing.

Today I decided to give two and a half of my classes the alternative of going to the Mass Action for Constitutionality less than two kilometers away at the Batasan Pambansa, an activity pre-approved by the administration through a memo.

I still had to meet my first class, but only for the first thirty minutes. I took their attendance nonetheless, and I also told them that the third tide graph would be due on Wednesday instead of today, but that those who submit before Wednesday would get bonuses.

There was only one student from my 1250pm class who passed by the department asking why our room was vacant. I guess he wasn't part of the block.

From my 230pm class, a pair of students went to the department to ask for the spreadsheet file sample for plotting the third tide graph.

Because my ride to the Makati office of Enchanted Kingdom is not available on Wednesday afternoon, he will have to buy the tickets for our November 16 trip tomorrow. I gave him the money from my students already, and the letter for the park officials.

That means I'll get the tickets by Wednesday, but I'll still distribute them to the students on Friday.
