Second Time-Centered Post This Week

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Forgot to mention yesterday that my thesis advisee said that he would concentrating on the write up from this point forward. I also told him to ask the chairman (of the department and his panel) about how many comets he is expected to have in his software.

I was also finally able to point him to the revisions to the thesis guidelines, which had been posted since the first week of October.

Basically the new rules have stricter deadlines for scheduling of defense and when the students should submit all the paperwork before the defense.

Final Output (with the appropriate capitals) has been limited to two bound copies and a CD-ROM that must contain the following: a scan or digital photo of the signed approval sheet, the entire final document, softwares developed with source codes (if any), and a poster file (instead of a poster, which makes it easier to store and to produce if and when needed).

Now, on to yesterday afternoon. I left the office an hour earlier than usual because it's my mom's birthday, only to find that my commuting time doubled because of the congestion of cars still on the road from rush hour. I guess it's still more efficient to stay one more hour in the office if only to be able to catch up on more paperwork, if I'm going to get home at roughly the same time anyway.

Same (or different, depending with how you look at it) with this morning. I left for work an hour earlier, and arrived an hour and a half earlier instead of twenty minutes late like the last two times. There was still a line at the terminal, but it was less than 20 feet long and had enough vehicles waiting to bring us, unlike the line that rounded two corners which had been my most recent experiences.

I guess it also has to do with finding out the shifting schedules of the nearby factories and how that affects the frequency of passengers arriving at the terminal during certain times (say, an hour before the next shift starts). Or it could be the opening of a new plant in the vicinity that has increased the total number of commuters over all. There has to be a way I could get informed about things like this, so I don't have to arrange my routine after the fact.

There were only two cars in the parking lot, and one of them was the company van, which may have been left there since yesterday. I was the one to open the office, and I will probably have an hour of solitude before any other people arrive. I may decide to make this a habit, if it means it lowers the risk of me being late for my 8am class.
