Mood: A Tad Flustered Read/Post Comments (0) |
2004-01-20 7:29 AM Too Many Things Happened to Remember All At Once Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
Some more things about the Talent Night I forgot to mention: Jenny, our secretary, sold the rest of the glow sticks that weren’t used in the performance, for five pesos each. I saw that each pack contained fifty pieces and cost one hundred fifty pesos. Sienna, one of the Computer Science students and Jenny’s dorm mate, was complaining to me about not selling any glow sticks. I told her to market them as mosquito repellants. She wouldn’t buy it. But after I used two of the attachments (that looked like a wheel hub) in the sticks’ can to make a ball for a student that bought 12 pieces, then they started selling. As far as I know they didn’t have any left by the end of the night. Speaking of selling, some of the other Business Administration students (and one mother of an Engineering student) sold food. Even though there was supposed to be an intermission in the program that allowed for the people to have a quick dinner, it was scrapped because people were already eating before that part. In the end most of the students hung around the side of the seats closest to the food booth. Most of the seats had filled out during the performances anyway, despite starting to a less than full house. I guess it mattered that the students of the Dean’s Listers being honored were invited, plus the parents of some of the performers. In the end, by the way, the surprise number turned out to be, not us, but two mothers who danced the cha-cha and the tango with two of the technicians. The planned Presidentiables spoof ended up with only an imitator for Roco, who was from the Accounting Office. They should have cut it short though when there was no reaction from the audience more than halfway through the segment. Cielo, my co-teacher who was supposed to be GMA, backed out during the day of the performance itself saying her mom needed her. And my old video camera fouled up during the first few minutes, so that the prayer, sung by the guidance counselor as well as the first act, weren’t recorded. Besides the Chaplain’s piano performance, one of the female students also played a saxophone solo, there were two bands: one rock and one acoustic, and three singers (all female) to minus-one cassette tapes. I wonder if there have been evaluations about the event already. I sure would like to give my input. About my two mechanics lecture classes last Thursday: in the first class, I gave the lecture first before giving them a seatwork towards the end of the period. In the second class, I had an exercise first (based on something we discussed last time that was not covered in the previous seatwork) on a fourth of a piece of paper that I also used for picking their recitation/board work for this meeting. That should learn them about asking the previous class what we did. There were also two new students in the 1pm class, who only enrolled and attended last Thursday. So I have to update my class list yet again. And hopefully that really does put last week to rest. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
