The Last Time I Do Something Until The Start of Next Trimester

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I didn’t have classes in mechanics for the second meeting in the tenth week of the third term, not only because of the Robotics competition running overtime (forcing us to lay down more and stricter rules for next time – including pit stop time limits) but also because most of the students there were also in my class.

After that was the lunchtime section, but then most of the students in that class were in the gazebo selling their wares to the rest of the school population.

I just hung around with my co-teachers at one of the dining tables, telling any of my students who approached and asked that I was lecturing at that very moment.

The next school day, I was also unable to meet my Electromagnetic Theory classes, first of all, because I was told the day before that the Induction of New Student Council officers would be happening at the same time, simultaneous with the drawing of the winners in the raffle of the Parents Association of College Students (PACS). Not only that, but that I was one of the emcees for the occasion.

There was another mix-up. Sir Ronnie, Director of the Student Affairs Office, was informed by the secretary of the Dean that it would be held at 11am, and that’s what he put on the posters he printed the day before.

It turned out that the Dean was only available at 12 noon, so the whole affair was moved, which meant that the outgoing Student Council president, who had a prior engagement that he delayed going to until 1130am, was already gone.

Another foul up was that the PACS didn’t give us anything to go on: no names of officers present who were verifying the winners, or even a list of prizes.

This is already on top of the students’ major complaint about their raffle, which is that the parents insisted that selling of tickets is REQUIRED, as in whether or not the students claim the stubs from the Dean’s office, they are as good as sold and have to be paid at the Accounting Office with their tuition.

This is despite the fact that we could not even make that sort of demand for the play, except for the teachers who agreed for the show during their class time.

The president of the PACS also decided halfway through the drawing of the consolation prizes that one of the young kids present should pick the winners, but refused to approach the stage during the major prizes, hoping that he’d win.

As for the two commissioners that the new Council appointed, one was the erstwhile leader of the Entrepreneurs’ Guild and the other was also an outgoing commissioner, both incoming third year students.

Of course we will entertain any protests with regards to the appointments, but it is understood that the students knew about the appointments when they selected whom they wanted for president.

Another minor quibble is that I heard third hand that Joseph is supposedly complaining about having the numeric results of the election posted. For him, it was very demeaning.

I’ll post my reply to that next time. For now, class dismissed.
